Blaire Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
The short version
- Blaire helps you spend on purpose and stash toward a goal. To do that it reads your bank transactions, through Plaid, and it can never move your money.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. Blaire has no ads, no ad SDKs, and no cross-app tracking.
- Some features use AI (from Google). We send only what a feature needs, never your bank sign-in, and never an identifier that names you.
- Your chat conversation is not kept. It clears when you close it.
- You can delete your account, and the data with it, from the Profile tab at any time.
- Blaire is for adults (18+) in the United States.
The rest of this policy explains each of those in detail.
1. Who we are and what this covers
"Blaire", "we", "us" and "our" mean Timothy Iyere, the individual developer who publishes Blaire. This policy covers the Blaire iOS app, our website at blaireapp.com, and our event invite pages at links.blaireapp.com (together, the "Services"). It should be read with our Terms of Service.
Blaire is available only to people who live in the United States and are 18 or older.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign up with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and the email address and name you approve. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive the relay address instead. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
- Your age and consent. When you sign up, you confirm you are 18 or older and agree to our Terms and this policy. We record that you did, and when.
- Your plan. The income and recurring bills you confirm, your goals (name, amount, timing, and photo), which spend zones you watch, the stashes you record, and edits you make to transactions (a new name, a tag, a note, or moving it to another zone).
- Scanner inputs. Photos you take or pick, items you describe, barcodes you scan, and web pages you share to Blaire from another app.
- Scans you keep for later, so you can find them in Profile.
- Chat (Blaire Pro). The messages and voice notes you send Blaire. See Section 4 for how these are handled.
- Restaurant planner and shared events. The place you type, the occasion, the number of people, your price range, any note, and the events you create.
- Photos for invites and your profile, if you add them.
- Bug reports and messages to us. What you write, plus your email address only if you tick the box asking us to reply.
2.2 Information from your bank, through Plaid
If you connect a bank, you sign in on Plaid's secure page, not Blaire's. We never see or store your bank username or password. From Plaid we receive:
- the accounts you chose (name, type, and masked account number) and their balances
- your transactions: date, amount, merchant name and description, category, whether it is still pending, and, where available, the merchant's location
We ask Plaid for transaction data only. We do not ask for credit reports, identity verification, or the ability to move money.
The connection is read-only. Blaire cannot move money, make a payment, start a transfer, or change anything at your bank. Plaid's handling of your data is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy at plaid.com/legal.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device and app details: your app version, device type, operating system version, and time zone.
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications.
- How you use Blaire's features: for example your streak, XP, quest progress, scan counts, and notification settings. We use these to run those features, not for advertising.
- Usage counters for limits and abuse prevention, such as a record that a scan or chat request happened and when. These hold no content.
We do not use a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
2.4 Location
Blaire asks for your location only while you are using it, and only for two things. You can say no and everything else still works.
- The scanner's nearby stores. Your phone rounds its location to about 100 meters and asks an open map service, directly, which shops are nearby. Your location goes from your phone to that map service; it never reaches Blaire's servers and we do not store it. Blaire's server receives only the names or web addresses of nearby shops.
- The restaurant planner. Your phone uses its location to pick the closest match to the place you typed. Only the place itself (not your phone's location) is sent to our server.
Separately, the merchant location that comes with a bank transaction (Section 2.2) is stored with your account and can show where you shopped.
2.5 Information we work out
From the information above, Blaire calculates things like your weekly zone caps, what is safe to spend this week, your goal's pace and projected finish date, which deposits look like dependable income, which charges look like recurring bills, and which zone a merchant belongs in. These are estimates about your money, used to run the app.
2.6 What we do not ask for
We do not ask for your Social Security number, government ID, credit report, or card numbers, and we do not use your contacts. Blaire does not ask about race, religion, politics, sexual orientation, or health. Your transactions can still reveal things about you (for example a pharmacy or gym purchase). We use them only to run your zones and goal.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- run Blaire: your zones, safe-to-spend, goal pace, streak, insights, and notifications
- sort your transactions into zones and learn from the ones you move
- tell dependable income apart from one-off or borrowed money
- answer a purchase scan, including what the uncovered part would mean for your goal
- power chat, the restaurant planner, shared events, Packs, and quests
- take payment for Blaire Pro through Apple and check whether your subscription is active
- keep the Services secure: verify accounts, enforce usage limits, and prevent fraud and abuse
- fix bugs, answer your messages, and improve Blaire
- meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you (such as credit, housing, or employment decisions). Blaire's suggestions are just suggestions; nothing happens to your money unless you do it yourself.
4. AI features
Several features send information to Google's AI service so an AI model can do the work. Each request is sent by our server, without your name, email, or account ID. What we send depends on the feature:
- Scanner: the photo of an item or menu (with its hidden metadata removed) or the item you described, plus the names of nearby shops.
- Chat (Blaire Pro): your messages and voice notes, with a summary of your zones, spending, and goal. Never your bank account numbers, your bank sign-in, or your location.
- Restaurant planner: what you typed into the planner and the places found for it.
- Sorting, Packs, and quests: merchant and store names, and your goal's name, to sort transactions and match you with a Pack.
- Invite photos: a photo you add to an invite, to check it is allowed.
How Google handles it. We use Google's paid AI service. Under Google's paid-service terms, Google does not use these requests or responses to train or improve its products. Google keeps copies for up to 55 days to detect abuse and meet legal obligations, and only authorized Google staff can access them. We ask Google not to keep a stored copy of any request for later reuse.
AI can be wrong. Blaire's AI answers are generated, can contain mistakes, and are not financial advice. Chat can suggest a change to your zones, but it never makes one: the app works out the numbers, shows them to you, and changes nothing until you tap to confirm.
Your chat conversation is not kept. We do not store your messages or voice notes. The conversation clears when you close it. We keep only a record that a chat request happened, and when, to stop abuse; it holds nothing you said.
What Blaire remembers (Blaire Pro). To be more helpful, Blaire may keep short notes from your chats, such as why your goal matters to you or a plan you mentioned. Each note is shown to you when it is made, with a way to undo it. Notes never hold amounts or figures, and they never affect your numbers. They are sent to Google's AI with your chats so Blaire can use them. You can see, edit, or delete each note, delete them all, or pause memory in Profile under "What Blaire remembers". Some notes expire on their own (for example, a plan two weeks after its date). All of them are deleted when you delete your account.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only to run the Services, and only what each provider needs. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with data brokers or advertisers.
5.1 Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run Blaire. Each one receives only what it needs for its job, and may use it only to provide that service to us:
- Bank connection: Plaid connects your bank, read-only. Your bank sign-in is held by Plaid, never by us. Plaid's own End User Privacy Policy applies (plaid.com/legal).
- AI: Google provides the AI behind the scanner, chat, planner, and sorting. It receives only what each feature needs (Section 4).
- Sign-in, payments, and notifications: Apple and Google for signing in; Apple and a subscription service for Blaire Pro; a push service to deliver notifications.
- Hosting and storage: a cloud database and hosting provider stores your account and the data described in Section 2, and a web host serves our invite pages.
- Shopping and places: search, maps, and price services receive a short product phrase, or the place you typed into the planner. They never receive your photo or anything that names you.
- Photos: a stock photo service receives your photo search words.
- Support: a team messaging tool alerts us when you send a bug report, with your email only if you ticked the reply box.
5.2 Services your phone contacts directly
These services get a request straight from your phone, not from our servers. Like any website, they also see your phone's IP address.
- Open map data: your rounded location, to find nearby shops (Section 2.4).
- Open product databases: the barcode or ISBN you scanned, to look up the product's name.
- Stock photos: the photos themselves load from the photo service's servers.
5.3 People you choose to share with
- Shared events. When you host or join an event, the host and the other guests who are going or have not answered yet can see your first name and your RSVP, along with the event's place, time, and occasion. Nothing else from your account is shown. Anyone with an invite link can see the event's occasion, time, place, the host's first name, and the guests' first names and RSVPs, and can RSVP from a web page by typing a first name. If you add a photo to an invite, anyone with the link can see it, and a picture sent in Messages cannot be recalled.
- Packs. Packs are weekly groups of people stashing toward similar goals. Other members see your level, weekly XP, rank, and a cat avatar. Your name and profile photo are shown only if you turn on showing them publicly; that setting starts off.
5.4 Other reasons we may share
We may share information if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the safety, rights, or property of anyone (including Blaire and its users), or to investigate fraud or abuse. If Blaire is ever part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of it; we will tell you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Photos and images
Photos you add for a goal, your profile, or an invite are checked and rebuilt as a clean image on our servers before we store them. Rebuilding strips hidden metadata, including any GPS location your camera recorded. We store them privately.
Scanner photos are taken without location data, stripped again on our server, sent to Google's AI (Section 4), and not stored by Blaire.
7. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account and the data Blaire needs to run | While your account is open |
| Chat messages and voice notes | Not kept (they clear when chat closes) |
| Chat memory notes | Until you delete them, they expire, or you delete your account |
| Unfinished sign-up (you started onboarding but did not create an account) | Up to 30 days, then deleted |
| Bug reports | Until you delete your account. The alert copy in our team's messaging tool is deleted after 90 days. |
| Usage counters for limits and abuse | Until you delete your account |
| Events you host, and your RSVPs | Deleted 30 days after the event, including first names typed by guests without an account (or sooner, if the host deletes their account) |
| Google's copies of AI requests | Up to 55 days, on Google's side (Section 4) |
| Emails you send us | As long as we need to resolve what you wrote about |
If the law requires us to keep something longer (for example, to resolve a dispute or prevent fraud), we keep only that, only as long as needed.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the Profile tab, or by emailing founders@blaireapp.com. When you do, we disconnect your bank at Plaid, delete our encrypted Plaid token, delete your photos, and then delete your account and everything linked to it: your goals, zones, transactions, stashes, memory notes, events you host, and bug reports. Copies in our database provider's backups are removed within 30 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel Blaire Pro. Apple bills the subscription, so you cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Apple and our subscription provider keep their own purchase records under their own policies.
9. Security
- Information is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Each account can read and change only its own data.
- Your bank connection token is stored encrypted, never in plain text.
- Your sign-in session is kept in your phone's secure storage.
No system is perfectly secure. If you think someone has got into your Blaire account, email founders@blaireapp.com. If you think someone has got into your bank account, contact your bank right away. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Your choices and rights
10.1 Choices in the app
- Bank connection: connect, disconnect, or try the demo with sample data instead.
- Location, camera, photos, microphone, calendar: each is asked for only when a feature needs it, and you can turn it off in your iPhone's Settings.
- Notifications: turn each kind on or off in Profile, or all of them in iPhone Settings.
- Chat memory: view, edit, delete, or pause it in Profile.
- Packs: choose whether your name and photo show to other members.
- Edit your data: correct your name, bills, transactions, goals, and zones in the app.
- Delete your account: Profile tab (Section 8).
10.2 Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, state law may give you rights over your personal information. These include California and other states with consumer privacy laws. We offer these rights to every Blaire user, wherever you live in the US:
- Know and access: ask what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we use it, and who we share it with, and get a copy.
- Portability: get your information in a common, machine-readable format.
- Correct: fix information that is wrong. Most of it you can fix in the app.
- Delete: ask us to delete your information, or do it yourself in Profile.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling: we do none of these, so there is nothing to opt out of. If your browser or device sends a Global Privacy Control signal, you are already opted out.
- Limit use of sensitive information: we use sensitive information (such as your financial account data) only to provide the Services you asked for, which the law allows, so there is nothing further to limit.
- Non-discrimination: using any of these rights will never cost you more, get you less service, or count against you.
10.3 How to make a request
Email founders@blaireapp.com from the email address on your Blaire account (or include it), and tell us which right you want to use. To protect you, we confirm the request comes from the account holder before we act, usually by replying to that address or asking you to confirm from inside the app. We respond within 45 days, and if we need more time (up to another 45 days) we will tell you why. Requests are free, unless they are clearly unfounded or excessive. You can also send a request from inside the app, at Profile > Help center.
Authorized agents. You can ask someone to make a request for you. We will ask for your signed permission and may ask you to confirm your identity directly with us.
Appeals. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision within 45 days. We will answer within 60 days. If you are still unhappy, you can contact your state's attorney general.
Sometimes the law requires or allows us to keep certain information, or stops us from sharing it (for example, for security). If so, we will tell you.
11. Children
Blaire is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will delete the account and its information. If you think a minor is using Blaire, email founders@blaireapp.com.
12. Where information is processed
Blaire is offered only in the United States, and we store your information in the United States. Some of our providers, such as Google, may process information in other countries under their own safeguards.
13. Cookies and web tracking
The Blaire app does not use cookies or advertising identifiers, and does not ask to track you. Our invite pages at links.blaireapp.com use no cookies, ads, analytics, or trackers, and load no outside scripts or fonts. When you RSVP on an invite page, your browser remembers your answer for next time, and we keep a scrambled form of your IP address to stop spam. Our website at blaireapp.com is plain pages with no analytics, ads, or trackers.
14. Notifications, emails, and in-app messages
- Push notifications are sent only if you allow them. You can turn them off at any time.
- The review prompt. Blaire may occasionally show Apple's standard "rate this app" box. Your rating goes to Apple, not to us.
- Email. We do not send marketing email today. We email you only to answer you or when we need to tell you something important about your account or these policies. If we ever start sending marketing email, you will be able to unsubscribe in every message.
15. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will post the new version and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If we start collecting something new, we will tell you when we collect it.
16. Contact us
Questions, requests, or complaints: founders@blaireapp.com.
17. Notice for California residents
This section adds the details California law asks for. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from you, your device, and (for bank data) Plaid, for the purposes in Section 3:
| Category (California law) | Examples | Disclosed for a business purpose to |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, account ID, push token, hashed IP (invite pages) | Hosting, sign-in, subscription, notification, bank-connection, and support providers |
| Customer records | Name, bank account names and masked numbers | Hosting and bank-connection providers |
| Commercial information | Transactions, subscription purchase history, scans | Hosting, subscription, and AI providers |
| Internet or other electronic activity | Feature use, streaks, scan counts, app version | Hosting and support providers |
| Geolocation | Merchant locations from transactions; your phone's rounded location goes directly to open map data and never to us | Hosting and places providers |
| Audio and visual | Photos, voice notes (not stored) | Hosting and AI providers |
| Inferences | Zone caps, income detection, goal pace | Hosting and AI providers |
| Sensitive personal information | Financial account information (without your bank credentials) | Hosting, bank-connection, and AI providers |
We have not sold or shared (for cross-context behavioral advertising) any personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing information of anyone under 16. We keep each category for the periods in Section 7. California's "Shine the Light" law: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
